WOW what a year 2014 was #ThisGirlCan - two women's golfHer events, 58 drop-in sessions and a baby. Typically everyone publishes their year’s review during the Christmas period. We wanted to leave it a little later to remind you of last year and to get your golfing pulses racing for this year. We’ve already launched the first of our drop-in sessions for this year (4th February). Yes, the weather’s still a little dreary and in some parts of the country they are experiencing snow. One thing that we learnt last year, if you don’t do something when you say you’re going to do it - it never gets done - especially if you don’t put it into your schedule.

Let’s get back to last year and remind ourselves of what happened in the world of FORE! WOMEN….

The year started with Tenterden and Royal Blackheath Golf Clubs and Maidstone and Rustington Golf Centres all hosting women’s golf taster sessions, open days and roll-ups. Between them they hosted 35 women’s golf sessions from January to March.

May was National Golf Month (NGM) Stonelees Golf Centre hosted a Woman’s Hour and a free ladies golfHer morning. Castle Golf School at Hever started with a free golfHer session followed by a five week coaching session. NGM returns again this May (2015).

We hosted our first celebrity golfHer event with Kaddy Lee-Preston in June at Marriott Tudor Park Golf & Country Club. 14 ladies enjoyed a morning of golf in glorious weather. Split into three groups they each took part in a half hour group coaching session of putting, chipping and the long-game. At the end of their sessions they experienced their first golf competition combining each golf skill. Watch the video below.

Our event winner was Linda Hooper "Thank you for an awesome day and all the lovely ladies whom I've had the pleasure to meet. Just had my first lesson today. All the best to everyone”. And Linda’s continued her golfing journey having lessons with Lloyd Walton at Tudor Park.

Deborah Turner, said "Brilliant event last week organised by FORE! WOMEN. Had never played golf before and yes I guess I did imagine it was a bit of a male dominated environment. I could not have been more wrong. Everyone was very welcoming, very encouraging and it was a fun relaxed atmosphere. It has completely changed my perception of golf and I am definitely going to learn to play”. True to her word, Deborah has been coming along to our Wednesday drop-in sessions at Sittingbourne Golf Centre.

The morning was rounded off with a light lunch and Kaddy shared her experience of the morning with some witty quips and stories of her golfing perceptions.

We had some awesome support from our partners on the day from the golf team at Tudor Park to supplying Kaddy’s outfits. Wilmoths Citroen Maidstone provided a DS3 Cabrio for the weekend and Deborah was our lucky winning lady. filmed the event and Evolution for Women, Lotty’s Flowers and Kent Laser and Aesthetic Clinic all donated prizes or goodie bag gifts.

In July, we launch our ‘Friendly way to find out that golf is actually fun’ weekly drop-in golfHer sessions at Sittingbourne Golf Centre with our PGA Professional golf coach Maxine Burton. Maxine has a wealth of experience from playing golf at County level for Surrey in her junior days, to starting her golfing career on Tour. She then moved into teaching and finally golf club management. Maxine will continue to work with us providing coaching on Wednesday mornings this year (2015) starting on 4th February.

Strawberry Hill Golf Club hosted a golfHer morning for the 'Sky Girls’, in August. Nine ladies who work at Sky pitched up on a Sunday morning for their first golfHer experience. Teeing up the morning up with a bacon bap and a cupper the girls were ready for their taster with Club Professional Peter Buchan.

The second celebrity golfHer event was hosted with Kaddy in October at The Weald of Kent Golf Club. The Weald are going through some exciting times launching their new Ben-efit Gym & Studio (5th January 2015). Look out for their Gym & Golf membership packages.

Finally, we rounded off the year in November breaking up before the Christmas madness and Winter’s unreliable weather…And, there was some fabulous news received from Kaddy about the birth of her first born, Albany. What a great way to end 2014.
